NPMHU CONTRACT UPDATE
On June 27, 2019 the National Postal Mail Handler Union (NPMHU) and the United States Postal Service initiated contract negotiations. NPMHU National President Paul Hogrogian and USPS Postmaster General Megan Brenan gave opening statements creating the foundation for this year’s bargaining process.
As most of you know, our National Agreement with the Postal Service is scheduled to expire on September 20, 2019. The goal is to obtain a tentative National Agreement, subject to membership ratification, by that date. If no final agreement is reached, there are alternative dispute resolution procedures that would determine the changes to the National Agreement including final and binding interest arbitration. Hopefully, binding interest arbitration is not needed and the parties are able to reach a bargaining agreement.
The NPMHU National Negotiation Team is committed to making every reasonable effort to reach an agreement that is good for our members, good for the Postal Service and good for the American mailing public.
