On June 26, 2018, the Postal Service, APWU and the NPMHU at the national level executed a tripartite Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) regarding new RI-399 dispute resolution procedures. The parties agreed that $14,500,000 would be distributed among Mail Handlers, under such agreement; it effectively withdrew and administratively closed all cross-craft grievances that were pending in the RI-399 process. (Mail Handlers previously received compensation for above agreement.)
Locally, in the Phoenix Installation, we were successful in removing some grievances from the RI-399 process before they got administratively closed, those grievances are from July 2015 and prior years.
The Local Parties agreed to monetarily compensate our Mail Handler craft $360,000.
In order to be eligible for payment, a Mail Handler had to be in the NPMHU bargaining unit and on the rolls of the Postal Service in July 2015 AND the Mail Handler has to be in the NPMHU bargaining unit on the rolls of the Postal Service during Pay Period 11 which ended on May 22, 2020.
A Mail Handler MUST satisfy BOTH of these criteria to be eligible for payment. Eligible employee payout will range from $267 to $1,275 and will impact approximately 330 Mail Handlers.
