As a matter of general interest, career employees are eligible to participate in the Annual Leave Exchange Program to receive a lump sum payment in exchange for a portion of your annual leave.
Career employees who have an annual leave balance of at least 440 hours of annual leave at the end of 2019 leave year and have used less than 75 hours of sick leave during 2019 leave year. You must have a minimum accumulated annual leave balance of 440 hours at the close of business on January 3, 2020.
Career employees are allowed to sell-back a minimum of 8 hours and up to a maximum of forty (40) hours of annual leave in whole hour increments.… Keep reading...
Since 2013, Mail Handler Assistants employees have been the newest members of the NPMHU bargaining unit. They are hired based on postal exam and other routine hiring criteria, and are eligible for conversion to career status based on their respective relative standing. The MHA category continues to serve as the only entry point for all future career Mail Handlers to be hired by the Postal Service. MHA employees are a very important part of our union.
We are happy to announce that effective Saturday, November 9, 2019, the following MHA employees will be converted to full-time Career Mail Handlers.

We are happy to announce that all career Mail Handler employees are scheduled to receive another Cost-of-Living Adjustment (COLA).
This is the final COLA increase under our current National Agreement. This COLA increase is based on the upward change in the relevant Consumer Price Index (CPI) following release of the July 2019 index. This COLA provides an annual increase of $624 for all Steps in Table 1 and for Step P of Table 2. The Remaining Steps will receive the proportional COLA increase percentages as outlined in Article 9.3 of the National Agreement.

On June 19, 2019 the NPMHU was officially notified that 10 mail processing facilities are scheduled to receive AGV vehicles. The AGV program will be comprised of pallet jacks and tow vehicles outfitted with advanced guidance systems and technology designed to operate WITHOUT DRIVERS. These automated vehicles will navigate Postal facilities using the same aisles as current PIT vehicles and are capable of moving pallets and Mail Transport Equipment (MTE), including wire containers, OTR’s, and APC’s (cages). The number of AGV’s installed per site for this initiative will be between 10 and 20 vehicles. Those facilities are as follows:

On June 27, 2019 the National Postal Mail Handler Union (NPMHU) and the United States Postal Service initiated contract negotiations. NPMHU National President Paul Hogrogian and USPS Postmaster General Megan Brenan gave opening statements creating the foundation for this year’s bargaining process.
As most of you know, our National Agreement with the Postal Service is scheduled to expire on September 20, 2019. The goal is to obtain a tentative National Agreement, subject to membership ratification, by that date. If no final agreement is reached, there are alternative dispute resolution procedures that would determine the changes to the National Agreement including final and binding interest arbitration.… Keep reading...
The Federal Express Courier Company (FedEx) will be implementing a 7-day delivery program that unfortunately will be taking most of the Amazon mail package volume from the Postal Service. The West Valley Facility is expecting a loss of approximately 100,000 packages per day.
Now, more than ever, Mail Handlers need to perform the scanning function on every piece of equipment in every section. I specially want to encourage Mail Handlers working on the Dock Operations at the Phoenix GMF, Tucson GMF and West Valley facilities to continue to perform the scanning function, including scanning empty equipment.
